NEW GRADUATES!!!

..
A great way to advance your career is to become a contracted Medicare provider ASAYC! (As Soon As You Can)
Facts you may not know:

6 Tips to Improve Your Success as a New Graduate Physical Therapist in 2021

1.) It is FREE to contract as a Medicare Part B Physical Therapist in Private Practice
2.) You don’t need a physical location. You may treat Medicare Part B beneficiaries in the patient’s home and your patient does not need to be homebound. It is outpatient therapy delivered in the home.
3.) You are not required to invest in an expensive EMR. Medicare does not require an EMR. You may use simple paper documentation if you wish.
4.) You do not need to hire a biller. Medicare Part B will accept paper claims, electronic claims via a clearinghouse, or in some cases you may submit claims directly through the MAC portal.
5.) It might help you get hired SOONER. If you plan on finding a job in an outpatient clinic that treats Medicare beneficiaries you will be required to have a personal NPI and Medicare provider number (PTAN) before your employer is allowed to submit claims for your treatments. Getting your PTAN before employment and understanding the Medicare application process can go a long way in improving your odds of landing the job when compared to another new grad who does not have a Medicare provider number.
6.) If you truly want to work at the highest level of your degree you should consider having the freedom to treat patients independently in addition to being employed.
As a doctorate level graduate and professional, owning your independence might be important to you. I hope these tips help you start the process of contracting with Medicare sooner rather than later.
