Most Common PECOS Application Warning (s)

The 2 most common PECOS application warnings we see for physical therapists, occupational therapists, and speech language pathologists are:

Individual Control

“Each enrollment is recommended to have at least one individual designated as the managing employee.”

If you are the sole owner of your business then you may choose to leave this section blank during the PECOS application process.

If your MAC requires you to complete this section you will receive an email after the submission.

Below is a screenshot of the paper CMS 855i application where you can see that there is a checkbox allowing sole owners to indicate that you are the managing employee.

Since PECOS doesn’t offer this checkbox simply leave this section blank if you wish.

This is a warning message, not an error message.

physical therapy Medicare enrollment

Electronic Funds Transfer

“EFT dataset [Your Bank Name] is not associated to any Medicare IDs. Please associate a Medicare ID to this EFT dataset in the Electronic Funds Transfer topic.”

This warning appears on all new applications. A Medicare ID is a Medicare PTAN. Since you do not have a Medicare PTAN yet you are not able to associate your Medicare ID to your bank account.

This is a warning, not an error and may be ignored.
